 | FLOATING AND CAMPING TRIP ON THE BIG HOLE RIVER Our Big Hole River camping trip is the perfect option for a father and son or father and daughter. We have a very scenic campsite with spectacular views on a private ranch at the mouth of the Maiden Rock Canyon. If getting away from the crowds and complexities of modern day life are your intentions and listening instead to the sounds of trout sipping mayfly spinners at dusk, this is the adventure for you. A staff member will organize the camp and your guide will prepare a delicious riverside dinner for the evening. On the next morning, what a great way to start your day by waking up to a beautiful river, making a cast and catching a wild trout! Reservations are appreciated and the additional rate is $100 per person for one night of camping on the river.

 | Non- Fishing Spouse Activities Summers in Montana offer many exciting things to do and see other than fishing. For spouses interested in exploring the culture and history of Montana while your significant other is fishing, we offer a guided tour of local museums, a ghost town, historic battlefield, summer theatre matinees, festivals and art galleries. Other options are golf, horse back riding, bicycling, hot springs, local rodeos, hiking, inner tubing, shopping or digging for quartz crystals. Your guide, Jane Baker, is a retired dean of a local college and it's a hoot just to be with her for a day. Reservations are appreciated and the additional rate is $200 per day (one person) plus venue charge if applicable.

 | BIG HOLE BATTLEFIELD A drive to the scenic upper Big Hole Valley through the fabled Montana ranch country is always a pleasurable day. In the town of Wisdom, you will discover a beautiful western art gallery. Just out of Wisdom, you can view a slide show (National Park Service) of the historic Battle of the Nez Perce Indians at the Chief Joseph battleground. The Nez Perce tribe were instrumental in guiding and feeding the Lewis and Clark Expedition during the last leg of their journey to the Pacific.
 | BANNACK STATE PARK A short drive from Wisdom will take you to Bannack, the former territorial capital of Montana. It is the best-preserved "ghost town" in the state and there is a wealth of western history to be learned there, including the tale of Sheriff Plummer and his gang of outlaws. On the way back to the lodge, you can drive through the magnificent Beaverhead National Forest and Pioneer Mountains and dig for crystals at an authorized location managed by the Forest Service.
 | OLD WORKS GOLF COURSE Another option is the "Old Works" Golf Course designed by Jack Nicklaus. It was rated as one of the ten best new and affordable public golf courses in the country when constructed several years ago. The Scottish links style 18-hole layout is very affordable at $50 per round with cart, and there is excellent fishing near the course. Nicklaus is particularly proud of his achievement here since he and his design company reclaimed a historic copper smelting area into a world class golf course.
 | MOOSE MEADOWS GOLF COURSE There is a 100-yd. Par 3 hole on the lodge property for those who'd like to sharpen their skills after dinner. Due to the occasional Moose that grazes onto the green and the tracks that they leave, there are no gimmies.
